Mrs. Smith
I'm originally from Charlotte, North Carolina where I was born and raised until beginning college at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 2011 and then immediately attended Meredith College, also located in Raleigh, to get my Masters of Arts in Teaching. I taught kindergarten for 2 years in Raleigh, but I am thrilled to be back in Charlotte with my family. When I'm not at school, I enjoy traveling, reading, spending time with family and friends, and trying new foods with my husband. |

This is my 8th year at Socrates Academy and my 15th year teaching! Wow, time really does fly when you are having fun!! My husband, Danny and I have two sons, Clay, 25 and Drew, 22. We have lived in the Charlotte area for 32 years and feel so blessed to be here. My teaching philosophy is to make learning fun and exciting and to always remember that each child is an individual who wants to feel accepted and loved. I feel it is important to form close relationships with my and their families and to teach not only academics but respect for themselves and others. Just as our vision for our kindergarteners is to be lifelong learners, I use this as a goal myself also. With this ever-changing world and education always being in transition, I feel I can always learn something and need to be open to new ideas every day!!

Originally from Connecticut, I graduated from Lynchburg with a BA in English in
2006. After graduation, I lived and worked in New York City in the publishing field before I moved to Virginia where I received my Masters in Elementary Education PK-6. Prior to joining Socrates Academy, I taught Junior Kindergarten in Charlottesville, Virginia for three years and Kindergarten at Winget Park Elementary School in Charlotte this past year. I am thrilled to join the Socrates Academy community and am looking forward to a wonderful year!! |
My name is Megan Howle and I’m a kindergarten teacher at Socrates Academy. I have
been blessed with 2 amazing children… :-) My daughter, Campbell, is 7 (and a 2nd grader at Socrates) and my son, Liam, is a year and a half. :-) My husband, JP, and I have been married for 9 wonderful years. This is my 12th year teaching kindergarten and my 8th year here at Socrates. I absolutely love it! :-) In 2007 we moved here from Greenville, South Carolina, to be closer to family. I found out about Socrates through my niece, Maria, who had just gotten into kindergarten here. (She is now an 8th grader here and my niece Alexis is a 5th grader!) :-) |
I am Christine Meiss, and I am an associate teacher for Mrs. Howle and Mrs. Smith. I have a B.F.A. from the University of Arizona.
I have spent over twenty-one years as a kindergarten associate and two years as and Art teacher at both Socrates Academy and St. Matthew Catholic School. Kindergartners bring great joy to my life because I can see the academic and emotional growth during the Kindergarten year. Besides hiking, kayaking, and spending time with my grown daughters, I love to draw. I have been able to write, illustrate, and publish my first children's book, "I See God in Nature," as well as several book covers. |
